40 years Gruber&Petters

PAST
Dipl.-Ing. Bernhard Gruber and Dr. Heinz Petters were fascinated quite early by computers and programming. In January 1970 they developed their first timetabling program for schools on the mainframe computer IBM S/360. The programming language was assembler.

Already in the early years there was co-operation with schools from different countries, mainly schools from Austria, Germany and Finland. When the PC was entering the daily life in schools the program was rewritten. The path to the international breakthrough on a broad basis was cleared.

PRESENT Many things have happened since 1970. Now more than 17,000 educational institutions are working with our programs; from a small primary school to highly complex universities. Untis is translated in more than 25 languages. A worldwide grid of partner companies enables the optimal support for all users. Today 15 people work at Gruber & Petters in the departments development, sales, marketing, support and administration.

FUTURE The advancement of modern technologies is an important factor in schools. The electronic class register makes the work practices easier, even small schools are looking for software solutions. Statistical analyses, accounting and interfaces to other systems are becoming increasingly important. Data shall be maintained only at one place. We are looking forward to the challenges of the future and to the close co-operation with our users.
