Multiple time grids and cover planning

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Defining different time grids at your school for different school types, departments of individual classes will of course have an effect on cover planning. There is by and large no change in the way cover planning is administered since teachers are only included in substitution and preferential proposals who can be deployed without risk of collision.

As with break supervisions, stand-bys can be scheduled for each time grid ensuring that there are enough teachers on call for each period.

Caution

Please note that when different time grids are used potential substitution teachers may not be available for a certain period even though they have no lesson because they have been scheduled to provide break supervision in another time grid.

When substitutions are printed out for teachers, the actual time of substitution will be output since the designation of the period does not provide clear information. A second period could, for example, start at 8:50 or at 8:55 depending on which time grid was used to schedule the substitution period.
