Departmental generation of timetables

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

If you generate the timetables on the level of departments Untis MultiUser has the following advantages compared to the usual procedure:

With resources shared by departments (e.g. rooms) it was usually agreed upon in advance who may use which resource at what time. With Untis MultiUser this is no longer necessary, as every department is informed about the general state of planning at any time. One resource cannot be scheduled twice at the same time accidentally as in this case a collision would occur.

There are many more possibilities for the individual departments in terms of generation of timetables as the timely restriction of the arrangements might create unnecessary limitations to the scheduling.

Gymnasium 1 (Gym1) is available for three departments. After the departments came to an agreement, gymnasium 1 is available for department 1 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, for department 2 on Mondays and Wednesdays and for department 3 on Fridays.

The availability of this room looks like this:

With Untis MultiUser such an agreement is no longer necessary. For example, department 1 starts with the scheduling then department 2 and then department 3.

Now the availability of this room looks like this:

All three departments benefit from this regulation even department 3 which is the last to schedule.

Simultaneous optimisation of different departments in the same term is not possible.
