MySQL and MS SQL offer many possibilities to protect the access to the database. Please inform yourself on the homepage of the respective host.

 

Microsoft Access databases can be protected against unauthorised access, too. Start Access and go to "File | Open". Select from the different possibilities to open the file "gpUntis.mdb" the choice "Open Exclusive" (see picture below).

 

 

 

The go to "Tools | Security | Set Database Password" in Access and define a password.

 

 

This password has to be defined in in the ODBC connection as well to allow access to the database in Untis without password prompt. Therefore click in the ODBC connection gpUntis on <Advanced> and enter in the field "Password" the password that you had defined in Access. You can leave the field "Login name" blank.
