Untis MultiUser supports the following databases: MySQL , MS SQL or Microsoft Access . Access to the data takes place via ODBC. The synchronisation proceeds in an asynchronous manner. That is, Untis checks automatically every 10 seconds whether other users made any modifications. In that case the data is synchronised. The Microsoft Access-application does not need to be installed with usage of Microsoft Access-databases. For the connection to the database suffices the installation of an ODBC driver.
The usage of Untis MultiUser does not exclude working with .gpn-files. The transfer of records into a .gpn-file as well as the transfer of a .gpn-file into the database is possible. You find more about this in chapter " Database and .gpn-file ".
Operating via the Internet
Untis MultiUser can be operated easily via the internet with the usage of a MySQL database. So it is possible for departments that are spatially far apart to work on the timetable at the same time. Every department has got updated information about the current scheduling of resources that are used by other departments too.
Multi-Client Capability
Untis MultiUser is multi-client capable, i.e. you can store in one database: several schools, per school several school years and per school year up to 255 different timetable versions.
One version of one given school year of one given school corresponds to the amount of data of one .gpn file.
Database Reorganisation
It is recommended to reorganise your database if you are working with Microsoft Access and the speed of Untis MultiUser decreases or if the .mdb-file is getting too large. For that theMicrosoft Access-application must be installed on your computer. Open the gpUntis.mdb file and go to the menu item "Office | Administration | Compact and Repair Database" (in MS Access 2000 you find this function under "Tools | Database Utilities | Compact and Repair Database").
