Swapping periods

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The green background in those fields of the timetable which are not empty indicates that you can perform a swap. Drag a period and drop it onto such a field. A dialogue window will open automatically and you will be able to use the various options to swap the two periods or to create a clash.

Fields shaded purple indicate that it is possible to move (or swap) a period without causing a clash but also that the desired room or alternative room is free.

You cannot drop a period onto a field which is not highlighted green without creating a clash The details window will display the lesson number and further details of the period which cannot be placed.

If you drop the active period on such a field, a dialogue window will open automatically offering the following options for selection:

<Cancel> - cancels the operation
<<Save block> - the 'dragged' (i.e. active) period will be scheduled and the original period will be unscheduled.

If you have also allowed a teacher, class or room clash by checking the appropriate selection fields, this will be taken into account when the original lesson is unscheduled.

Swap suggestions

If you click on the <Swap suggestions> button in the class timetable window, Untis will display several possibilities to swap periods. This will take into account that a swap can only be made for a class if a swap is performed for another class at the same time. The 'Gain' column will indicate if a swap operation brings about an improvement or degradation in terms of the settings you made (weighting, specifications in master data / lessons).

If two classes are to be swapped, the lower section of the suggestion window will display various swap possibilities for the second class. Depending on the swap possibilities the total gain or loss for the timetable will also be indicated here.
