Implicit subject group

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

An implicit subject group is used when the subject description contains the wildcards “?” or “*”. The wildcard “?” replaces an individual character while “*” stands for any character string. “GE?”, for example, could stand for GER (German) as well as for GEO (Geography) but not for the subject GRK (Greek). On the other hand, “G*” would refer to all three subjects.
