The absence of any of the three master data elements, teacher, class or room, is considered as an absence.
Example: Absence of a teacher
Teacher Hugo shall be absent on any Monday in the school year.

| 4. | Select teacher Hugo from the teachers list. Aternatively you can enter the short name of the teacher. Confirm your entry with <Tabulator> or <Return>. |
Teacher Hugo was set absent for the whole day. In our example this is September 28th, from the first to the eigth period.

Example: Absence of a class
Enter the absence of the class 3a on the same Monday in the first two periods.
| 1. | In the absence window under type select "Class(es)". |
| 2. | Select the class 3a from the classlist. By default the class is set absent for the whole day. |
| 3. | Limit the absence in the column "TO period" to the second period. |

Hint: Reasons of absence
You can enter a previously defined reason of absence in the column "Abs. reason". This determines if and how the cancelled periods are counted. Particulars to this can be found in chapter Reasons of absence .
In case a room is not available for some periods or several days, you can switch to the type "Room" in the absence window. Rooms can be set absent analogous to teachers and classes. You find an example for this in chapter Absence of teacher, class, room .
