Period flag

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The period flag is a classification number of how well a substitution fits into the timetable of the teacher. It indicates the "distance" to the next regular lesson. Below we describe the meaning of the individual period flags in detail. Our example deals with the substitution suggestion of the fifth period on a Tuesday.

Period flag x

The teacher was released because of the absence of a class. Instead of his regular lesson, he has a free period.

In our example, the regular lesson of teacher HEN on Tuesday, fifth period, is cancelled because of the absence of class K13. He is suggested with the period flag x.

Period flag 0

In this case the teacher has a free period at the time in question between two periods in which he has to teach.

In our example this would be the case for teacher BAU. He has regular lessons on Tuesday in the fourth and sixth period.

Period flag 1

The period that has to be substituted is adjacent (either before or after) a regular lesson.

In the substitution suggestion teacher BAR is an example for this.

Period flag 2

The period that has to be substituted is two positions away from the next regular lesson.

Teacher ENG has a lesson on Tuesday, third period which is two positions away from the period that has to be substituted.

Period flag 3-8

The next lessons are 3-8 positions away from the period that has to be substituted. The higher the marker, the less suitable is the teacher to hold this substitution from the point of view of the timetable and the farther down will he be in the substitution suggestion.

Period flag 9

The teacher does not have any lessons on this day.

Teacher MOE does not teach on Tuesdays so he would not be suited well as a substitute. You have also the possibility that teachers with the period flag 9 are not displayed at all (See chapter Settings of the substitution suggestion ).

Period flag /

The period flag / is displayed if the substitution takes place in an off-site building and cannot be reached in time by the suggested substitute teacher (He is teaching the period either before or after the substitution and the break is too short to reach the off-site building).

Period flag = subject name

Teachers that have standby periods are suggested with the short name of the standby subject in the substitution suggestion.
