In the substitution suggestion the teachers are ranked - beginning with the most suitable - according to a variety of criteria. You can define how strongly the different criteria shall influence the ranking.
You reach these settings via the menu item "Modules | Cover Planning | Settings...", via the context menu of the right mouse button or via the button <Settings>
. There activate the tab "Weighting".

Release, On standby, Teaches in the class, Teaches the subject
You can assign each individual parameter a weighting between 0 (not important) and 99 (very important). The higher you set the weighting, the higher up will a teacher move in the ranking if one or more criteria apply to him.
Factor for the flag, Availability-Factor
The number of the period flag (respectively the number of the availability) is multiplied with the factor that you have entered. This number is added of the points, hence the ranking of the teacher might change.
Totals-Factor
The product of this factor and the total is added of the points, hence the ranking might change.
Statistical Code
With the help of the statistical code that can be entered in this field, you can move specific teachers up or down in the ranking (e.g. age reduction). The statistical code that is referred to, must be entered in "Master Data | Teachers" in the column "Stat. Code(s)". You can enter positive or negative values.
Example: Order of the substitution suggestion
Teachers who teach the class shall primarily be assigned to substitute and thus advance in the substitution suggestion.
| 1. | Open demo5.gpn and place the cursor on the first Tuesday in the school year in the fifth period. |
Hint: Change cancellation into substitution
Just like in any open substitution you can enter a substitute teacher into a lesson that was cancelled according to the substitution time grid.
| 2. | Open the substitution suggestion |
| 3. | Teacher Callas, who teaches the class is ranked second. Teacher Hugo is ranked first because of his negative counter. |
The possible substitutes Cer, Curie and Nobel, who know the class are further down in the list because of the high period flag (bad fit into the timetable) and because they cannot teach the subject.

Teachers who know the class shall advance in the list.
| 4. | Open the settings of the cover planning via "Modules | Cover Planning | Settings..." or via the button <Settings> |
| 5. | Increase the weighting at "Teaches in the class" from 10 to 99 and decrease the weighting at "Factor for the flag" from 30 to 10. |
| 6. | Confirm your entries with <OK> and call up the substitution suggestion of the fifth period again. |
Callas, Cer and Curie have advanced in the list and now they hold the first three positions. Nobel stays the last in the list because he is not teaching on Tuesdays and the period flag 9 weighs more in this case as the fact that he knows the class.
